Aeroborn at Innovation Zero MENA 14.10.25

Man Yong Toh to Present CO2-to-Activated Carbon Solution Critical for Saudi Arabia's Water and Air Filtration Needs
RIYADH – Aeroborn CEO Man Yong Toh will speak at the inaugural Innovation Zero MENA Congress in Riyadh on October 14-15, 2025, as part of a special panel on Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) technology. The Dutch cleantech company transforms industrial CO₂ emissions into high-value activated carbon materials essential for water and air filtration systems across the Kingdom.
Strategic Alignment with Saudi Vision 2030
The presentation aligns with Saudi Arabia's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 under its Vision 2030 framework. The Kingdom has endorsed the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) approach, focusing on reducing, reusing, recycling, and removing carbon emissions. With the Saudi Green Initiative driving emission reductions and renewable energy projects targeting 50% clean energy by 2030, Aeroborn's technology directly supports these goals by converting captured carbon into commercially valuable products.
"We're moving beyond traditional carbon capture by converting emissions into products that industries already use and need," said Toh. "This creates both environmental benefits and economic opportunities, making decarbonization a value-creating proposition rather than just a cost center."
Critical Technology for the Kingdom
Activated carbon plays a vital role in Saudi infrastructure:
Water Treatment: Essential for desalination plants and drinking water purification
Air Filtration: Critical for maintaining air quality in industrial and residential facilities
Industrial Applications: Used extensively in petrochemical and oil sectors
By utilizing captured CO₂ as feedstock instead of burning fossil fuels, the technology addresses both emission reduction targets and material supply needs.
Panel Discussion on CCU Technologies
Toh will join industry experts on the CCU panel to discuss:
Converting CO₂ into activated carbon materials
Economic viability and scalability in the MENA region
Integration with existing industrial infrastructure
Achieving circular carbon economy objectives
Building on Regional Momentum
Saudi Arabia is developing major CCUS hubs in its Eastern and Western regions, with projects like SABIC's Jubail plant already capturing 500,000 metric tons of CO₂ annually for conversion into urea and methanol. Aeroborn's technology adds another dimension by producing activated carbon – a material with growing demand across multiple sectors.
"The work we are doing is part of the solution to a truly global challenge," Toh emphasized. "Collaborating with companies and governments in the MENA region is immensely important as we work towards commercial deployment at scale."
About Innovation Zero MENA
The Innovation Zero MENA Congress (October 14-15, 2025) at Misk City, Riyadh, is the Middle East's largest net zero event, expected to attract over 10,000 industry leaders. The event focuses on decarbonization across energy, industry, and advanced technologies.
